A Greenwich man has accepted a plea deal in the hit-and-run death of a supermarket cashier killed in November 2023.
The attorney for Salvatore Longo says his client pleaded guilty Wednesday to charges of evading responsibility causing death and negligent homicide in exchange for 12 years in prison suspended after serving six years, followed by five years of probation. If Longo violates that, he would face up to another six years in prison.
Longo is scheduled for sentencing Aug. 14.
Police say Longo struck and killed 74-year-old Marie Jean-Charles while she was crossing West Main Street near Alvord Lane. She had been on her way to her job at ShopRite, where she had worked for 25 years.
