Police say 23-year-old Breanna Henderson was struck and later died after being hit by a motorcycle in Queens around 2:20 a.m. on Friday.
Loved ones of Henderson say she was a teacher and loved to sing and dance.
News 12 spoke with Breanna Henderson's mother, Paula Henderson who says she was on her way home from a show, doing what she loved. She says she was an amazing person.
“Sweet, a beacon of light, a social butterfly. Everyone that knew her loved her. She made friends everywhere she went," said Henderson.
Breanna's boyfriend Leon Grantt said he knew something was wrong because he had her location.
"When I saw her location was in the middle of the street, and then twenty minutes later at a hospital, I was confused as to what was going on," said Grantt.
Paula Henderson says she's still in shock.
“I was just like, 'Oh, my gosh.' And I just had spoke to her before that. And so, you know, when I spoke to she told me as soon as she geta home, she'll call me. So I was like very, very, very, so much in shock," said Henderson.
Her loved ones tell News 12 they plan on keeping her legacy alive and are hosting a candlelight vigil in her honor tomorrow.
Police say the motorcycle driver remained on scene.
